Five States. One Epic Adventure.

Seven days, five states, and a whole lot of scenery: a young traveler shares his story.

Me, ready for adventure

Hello neighbors, it’s me, Adhrit, with this month’s story! For this article, I wanted to talk about my first long road trip to Yellowstone National Park. The reason why I say it’s my first long road trip is because the longest one I’ve been on before this was like probably 5 hours, and this was way longer. Anyway, enough said about that, let’s talk about the trip itself!

Our first stop, Las Vegas! So, after packing our bags the night before, me and my father said our farewells to my sister, mother, and dog, because we wouldn’t be seeing them for the next 7 days. Now, because it would be hard to drive straight to Yellowstone (especially on my father), we had a couple stops at different cities along the way where we would spend the night in and later get some shut eye in our hotel room, and that first city was Las Vegas.

Next up, Utah! After getting some rest, my father and I got dressed, ate our breakfast at the hotel, checked out, and left for our next stop which was in Utah. One thing I did notice was that the terrain and landscape of the location we were at was very different than California. There were big mountains, tons of green pastures, beautiful sunsets, and the communities as well as their houses seemed to be somewhat different as well, but I guess it shouldn’t be that surprising because it’s a whole different state. Well after reaching our hotel, we checked in, went out for dinner, and came back to our room to get a good night’s rest.

Now we’ve entered potato kingdom! If you haven’t already been able to guess which state I’m talking about already, its Idaho. And just for a disclaimer, I only saw one potato farm (I thought I’d see more). Instead of huge mountains like Utah, in Idaho, I saw more farms and green fields. Maybe I did see more than one potato farm, huh. And don’t get me wrong, there were many mountains that I could see in Idaho, but it seemed to be a very calm and serene area due to so many beautiful green fields and so much agriculture. Like the two stops before Idaho, after reaching the hotel, we checked in, got some dinner, and then got some z’s. And today we really needed them, because the most fun part of the trip was about to truly begin.

Yellowstone National Park; our destination!  The next day, we got dressed, ate some breakfast, and without wasting anymore time, we left for Yellowstone. Even during the drive to Yellowstone, everything was just so beautiful. And when we got there, the natural beauty of this region left us both in awe. Even though we only had two days in Yellowstone until our adventure there had to conclude, we made sure to see all the main attractions and get some nice pictures as well. During those two days, we saw so many geysers, mountains, and even a waterfall!  And even though we didn’t get to see as much as it would’ve been nice too, at least it left room for even more adventure on our next trip here. After our two-day great adventure in the National Park, my father and I started back on the same route we took to Yellowstone, only now it was back home to Bakersfield.

My thoughts on the trip: I think that this trip was just so wonderful and am so grateful to have been here! It really shows you how beautiful nature and all of creation truly is. As I mentioned earlier in the article, it would’ve been great to have some more time to explore Yellowstone, but at least it left us some room for adventure the next time we went. This trip was well worth the time on a road trip with my father, and I truly do anticipate the future adventures which are to come. As for you all, I hope you all have a great rest of your day neighbors, and until the next story of mine to come, keep reading!
