Congratulations to these remarkable college graduates. Your hard work, perseverance, and achievements have brought you to this moment, and our community is excited to see where your journey leads next.

Jazlyn is the daughter of good friends, and I’ve enjoyed watching her apply herself to her studies and to a job or two that she has had along the way.  She is a “first” for this magazine … being able to honor her for her high school graduation and college graduation in the same edition, having taken on the challenge of dual enrollment at BC while attending SHS.

She is graduating from Bakersfield College with an Associate Degree in Science in Administration of Justice.  While attending CSUB, she plans to pursue a career in Hair Styling as well as a Cosmetic Chemist.

 

Oh, and for the record, I requested this photo that was taken during her graduation photo session.  She is displaying the bunnies that have been with her every step along the way to this day.  Toy Story 6 anyone?

Logan is the oldest son of this magazine’s premier photographer, Gracie (and Eliseo) Valdovinos.  It seems like just yesterday Gracie was sharing photos of him in high school and in no time flat, here he is as a college graduate!  

 

Logan earned his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from UC Santa Cruz and is home for the summer – as his mother would say, hopefully getting a “big boy” job – before he applies to return to Santa Cruz to work on his Master’s Degree.

 

Heck yeah, more year in Sant Cruz?!  Good call, Logan.

I have no idea how she took the time to attend, but I got to meet Noemi and her cheerleading husband, Bryan, at our Tacos & Tequila event in May.

 

Noemi is already a busy nurse and mother but took the time to return to school – between work and family – to complete her Master of Science in Nursing – Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of Texas at Arlington.

 

While she says that her immediate plans are to have fun and enjoy life – and attend more of our neighborhood events – I can see big opportunities ahead of her in the field of nursing.

 

It’s a big accomplishment to work, be a mother, and complete a degree.  We proud of you … and you too, Bryan.
