I was lucky enough to meet two of our Seven Oaks neighbors recently, Brea and Donovan Smith. They own a couple of fascinating, woman-owned, family-operated businesses, including Kern County Bees, a bee-removal service that could certainly come in handy one day. We’ll save that story for the new year.

But when the bees begin taking the holidays off, Brea and Donovan turn their attention to another family business: Bright Idea Christmas Lights.

You might say the light bulb came on four years ago, and they have been busy adorning homes and businesses with beautiful holiday displays ever since.

They also kindly offered to help my Leadership Bakersfield Team 2 bring some Christmas cheer to Casa Esperanza, a transitional home for women and children. After our year-long project to create a new study room and raised garden beds was completed in October, Brea felt that holiday lights, something the home had wanted for years, could bring some extra joy to the families living there.

Bright Idea Christmas Lights can bring that same joy to your home or business … without you having to climb a ladder, untangle last year’s lights or spend an entire weekend wondering why half the strand suddenly stopped working.

Their team handles everything. They visit your property, help design a display that complements your home and custom-fit professional-grade C9 lights to your roofline. Everything is installed using clips. No nails. No staples. No damage to your home or office.

Each bulb is screwed in by hand, and if a bulb goes out or something stops working during the season, they return and repair it at no additional charge when you lease their lights.

Then … and here’s the really cool part … after the holidays, they come back, take everything down and store the lights until next season. You simply get to enjoy the results.

But don’t wait too long. When I met Brea and Donovan in September, many of their returning customers had already reserved their spots for this year.

Visit their website to see their work and request a free quote. But if I were you, I’d call or text them today.

Like, now.
