Hunters Creek Elementary Celebrates 70 Years!
Fifth Grade Girls
With cat-eye glasses and blow-up guitars, Hunters Creek Elementary students celebrated the school's 70th birthday with a SOCK HOP, hearkening back to the school's 1954 establishment. Principal Robye Snyder opened the event with a peek into what life was like back in the 1950s, from the cost of a hamburger to the cars parents drove to the clothes children wore to school.
Sock Hop event chair Summer Craig and her father Bobby Owen, known as Papa Bo to his grandchildren and students of the school, then taught the dances of that era, including The Twist, The Hand Jive, The Swim, The Shuffle, and The Bunny Hop. The event concluded with a sweet treat courtesy of Memorial Bakery, green-iced cookies with "HCE" to honor the school's 70th birthday.
