Celebrating Community and Creativity:

Meet Ellin Rosenthal and Ron Faleide

At home in the vibrant Wash Park community, amidst the ecelctic streets and welcoming charm, resides a couple whose presence adds an extra layer of color and creativity to the neighborhood canvas. Ellin Rosenthal and Ron Faleide, with their rich tapestry of experiences and passions, have become fixtures in the local scene, weaving together a story and living a lifestyle that intertwines love, artistry, and community spirit.

Their journey began nearly three decades ago in the bustling corridors of Washington D.C., where fate brought them together. Fast forward to today, and Ellin and Ron celebrate 37 years of partnership—a journey that led them to the picturesque landscapes of Colorado. Settling in Wash Park in 1994, they quickly became ingrained in the fabric of the neighborhood, embracing its unique character and fostering connections with both old friends and new acquaintances.

Ellin’s background as a journalist and later in tax policy paved the way for a diverse career path, including work at Colorado Public Radio and teaching writing classes. Ron, drawing inspiration from architectural maestro Frank Lloyd Wright, embarked on his own architectural venture, creating his company, Faleide Architecture, and carving out a niche with his distinctive “Rustic Modern” style—a blend of rugged exteriors and contemporary interiors.

Their home on Gilpin Street has become a hub of creativity and camaraderie, hosting legendary house concerts that draw music enthusiasts from far and wide. The couple creates unforgettable experiences within the cozy confines of their backyard. Ellin acts as a masterful emcee and if you’re lucky, you’ll catch Ron serenading folks on one of his twenty four guitars.

Beyond their artistic endeavors, Ellin and Ron are staunch supporters of local businesses and nonprofits, embodying the true spirit of community engagement. The couple loves to indulge in the culinary delights and support the local ecosystem by dining at Wash Park Grille, Bonnie Brae Ice Cream, Katherine’s, the Campus Lounge, and restaurants on Old South Gaylord.

Yet, amidst their bustling lives, Ellin and Ron find solace in simple pleasures—Ron’s passion for vintage cars, including his prized 1963 Buick Riviera, and his winemaking hobby, complemented by Ellin’s soulful performances as singer with a Blues Rock cover band. In our precious pets article, you can learn all about Ellin & Ron’s feline companion, Luna, who is the prime embodiment of a “cool cat”.

In essence, Ellin Rosenthal and Ron Faleide epitomize the essence of Wash Park—a harmonious blend of creativity, community, and character. As they continue to enrich the tapestry of their community with their warmth and zest for life, their story serves as an inspiration to us all, reminding us of the beauty that lies in embracing one’s passions and fostering connections within our community.
