A Legacy of Love and Community in Wash Park
Dale and Patricia recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary with their children Danny (34), Erik (31), and Valerie (28).
The couple met at East High School in Denver where they both were enrolled in the Junior ROTC program. The Wetmores have lived in Wash Park for 11 years after moving from Centennial. Patricia, a Denver native, and Dale, whose family founded Wetmore, Colorado, both attended Colorado State University. Patricia earned a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction. Dale obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business and a Master's in Computer Science.
Dale's career included software sales at IBM and Microsoft before becoming a corporate speaker. Patricia taught at Smoky Hill High School for 34 years, serving as the International Baccalaureate Coordinator, and now teaches yoga at TruFusion.
Their children have pursued successful careers: Danny, VP of Operations Innovation at DaVita, is a Stanford graduate who enjoys golf and biking with his wife Kaitlynne and their four children. Erik, Director of Revenue Operations at Best Life Brands and a University of Chicago graduate, enjoys climbing and skiing. Valerie, a former model and current Brand Strategist for Flockhill Lodge in New Zealand, enjoys snowboarding, surfing, and hiking with her fiancé Taylor Cullen and their dog Roux.
The family's pets, Mini Aussiedoodles Lola and Sophie, bring joy to their lives. Dale, a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and Hapkido, loves skiing and hiking, while Patricia enjoys gardening, piano, and writing novels for NaNoWriMo.
Family celebrations include Christmas Eve potlucks, Mother's Day brunches, and watching the Denver Country Club's 4th of July fireworks. Favorite local spots are Sushi Den, Izakaya Den, Wash Perk, Stella's Coffee, Bonnie Brae Ice Cream, and Wash Park Grille. They are members of the Denver Art Museum, Botanical Gardens, and the History Colorado Museum.
Dale and Patricia contribute to the community by hosting a Life Group Bible Study at St. John's Lutheran Church. Dale volunteers for India Transformed, a charity aiding women in India's lowest caste. Patricia spoke at The Other Side Academy about the benefits of yoga and breathwork.
Patricia's father, Omar Blair, was the first African-American President of the Denver School Board and a Tuskegee Airman. A school and library in Denver honor his legacy. Patricia's sister Debbi was also an educator, serving as a principal at South High School.
Living in Wash Park, they enjoy the friendly community, tree-lined streets, eclectic architecture, and park events like summer concerts. They recommend local businesses such as Urban Dogg and Wash Park Health, owned by their neighbor Dr. Gina Fidler.
