Bonnie Brae Liquor's New Mural

by Muralist Gretchen Leggitt

If you've driven down University Blvd through Bonnie Brae in the past month, you've probably noticed that Bonnie Brae Liquor is boasting a stunning new mountainous mural on its north-facing wall. While Professional Muralist Gretchen Leggitt was up on her lift creating this mural, the Greet Wash Park team stopped by for a quick interview.

"I'm proud to say I am a Wash Park native, I grew up a few blocks away from Bonnie Brae Liquor, and I currently reside in Bellingham Washington, and I'm proud to be back here on my old stomping grounds. I've been a muralist since 2017. My claim to fame is putting up the largest mural in the state of Washington. Its 22,000 square feet (the length of two football fields x 60 feet tall)!"

"This piece is inspired by my favorite mountain range view of Mount Evans (now Mount Blue Sky). I spent my childhood staring at this beautiful range."

"I absolutely love Denver. I'm in love with this city. It's been really inspiring to me to see the street art movement pop up in Denver. The work on Santa Fe and of course in the RiNo District has been incredibly inspiring to myself as an artist. I am the organizer of a huge mural festival in Bellingham Washington called Noisy Waters Mural Fest that was inspired by Crush here in Denver. It is an honor to come back and contribute to the street art here."

We hope you enjoy the vista of the mountains every time you pull in to shop at your favorite local liquor store, Bonnie Brae Liquor.
