Crafting Kindness: NLYM's 'Helping Hands' Event Leaves Lasting Impressions

NLYM members purchased and assembled bikes for the Forgotten Children's Fund.

In a heartwarming display of community spirit, the West Bellevue Chapter of the National League of Young Men, Inc. (NLYM), along with their dedicated mothers, recently organized their third annual "Helping Hands" event at St. Thomas School. This event, marked by compassion and a commitment to service, brought everyone together to contribute to various community organizations in meaningful ways.

Among the notable initiatives, the group purchased and assembled 74 bicycles for the Forgotten Children's Fund. This thoughtful gesture is sure to bring smiles to the faces of children who may not have experienced the joy of receiving a new bicycle before.

Bellevue LifeSpring also received a generous contribution of 150 snack packs from the NLYM members. The packs were meticulously assembled, providing essential sustenance for those in the community who may be facing food insecurity.

During the holidays, the NLYM group also crafted 250 hot cocoa ornament balls for Mary's Place. These delightful creations not only offered a sweet treat but also served as festive decorations, bringing warmth and cheer to the recipients during the holiday season.

Recognizing the needs of our furry, four-legged friends, the NLYM participants channeled their creativity into making a meaningful impact at the Seattle Humane. As a result, a total of 80 dog toys were carefully crafted and donated.

The NLYM's commitment to service goes beyond tangible contributions; it reminds us all of the importance of lending a helping hand to those in need. By organizing the "Helping Hands" event, these volunteers all exemplified the true meaning of community engagement, fostering a sense of empathy and compassion that resonates throughout the West Bellevue area.

Their efforts have not only made a positive impact on the lives of those directly affected by their generosity but also continue to serve as inspiration for others to join in creating a more compassionate and caring community for all. Thank you, NLYM, for spreading joy and highlighting the true spirit of giving within our community.
