Bellevue Cheer's Monumental Season
The Bellevue High School Cheerleading Team, coached by Adam Yaw, Alexa Bordner, Amanda Pardee, and Cindy Pardee, has been supporting its football and basketball teams for generations, but what is lesser known about their season is the time they spend preparing and competing in competitions at the local and national level.
This team consists of JV and Varsity sideline teams as well as Game Day and Traditional competition teams. All athletes compete in the Game Day division throughout their competition season, and those selected for the Traditional team perform an additional routine comprised of jumps, stunting, tumbling, and cheering at the various competitions they attend throughout their season.
Not only did this team cheer their football team all the way to their 14th State Championship win this season, but their Traditional team took home their very own WIAA State Championship title in the 2A/3A/4A Medium Tumbling division… the first in program history! “We are so excited for and proud of this team, as winning a State Championship in the traditional tumbling division is not an easy feat. It’s something that we have worked toward for years and the team maximized their opportunities and threw an amazing routine,” head coach Cindy Pardee said.
After placing second and qualifying for five separate divisions in the virtual national qualifier, the Bellevue Cheer team went on to compete at the United Spirit Association (USA) National Competition in Anaheim, California. To finish off an already amazing season, Bellevue Cheer got third in the Situational division, as well as took home a trophy in the Medium Tumbling division for the first time ever. “USA Nationals is always such an amazing experience. With 544 teams competing, it is a huge competition. We are so proud that the Bellevue Cheer Squad took home 3rd in their division in the Situational Cheer category,” Pardee said.
In addition to their coaches, this team is led by a group of senior captains who worked together to make this season the best one yet, and their perseverance and dedication surely paid off. “Being a captain this season has taught me so much about how to be a good leader and teammate! I’ve had such an amazing season and could not be prouder of how we performed at State and Nationals,” captain Mer Wilson said.
This team has had a huge impact on the Bellevue community, and the reciprocation of support they received this year has been an integral factor in their success. This season was a monumental one for Bellevue High’s Cheerleading program, and they are looking forward to what’s next.
