Cambium Creates Landscapes to Live In

Traditional or contemporary, they create landscapes of uncompromising beauty.

Tim Moshier, Founder

Meet Tim Moshier, a Michigan native with East Coast roots but a heart that thrives in the Pacific Northwest. After earning degrees from the University of Michigan, Tim lived on the East Coast before settling in Seattle, a city that perfectly balances urban living with a love for the outdoors. Here, he pursues a passion for horticulture and gardening, enjoying being in the Seattle sun (go figure), birdwatching, wine tasting, and barbequing come rain or shine. He also loves practicing Spanish allowing him to more readily communicate with Cambium’s Spanish-speaking Latino team members who really contribute to successful projects.

As the founder of Cambium, Tim has always been driven by a vision to create purposeful home landscapes, combining creativity with craftsmanship. From humble beginnings at a drafting table in the basement, Cambium has grown into a flourishing company built on teamwork and top-tier customer service. With every project, the mission remains the same: to design, build, and nurture beautiful spaces that enhance both homes and lifestyles.
Below, Tim answers our questions about Cambium

What types of services does your business offer?
Customer Service. One of our highest priorities is to tend to customer service promptly, effectively, and with full transparency. This company value is applied to our landscape architecture design services, construction, and maintenance services. It is of utmost importance.

What's unique about your business? What sets you apart from the rest?
Every project and client is unique.  We don't have a 'style'.  We work with the client's tastes and desires as well as home building architecture, to create beautiful landscapes that compliment their lifestyle.

How does your business connect with and contribute to the local community?
For fifteen years Cambium's office and studio have lived in the Madrona neighborhood in Seattle.  We have embraced this wonderful local community, participating in the Mayfair celebration and sponsoring bands in the summer concerts in Madrona Park. We have volunteered labor and materials to create an entrancing landscape at Madrona Grace Church. More broadly we often sponsor KUOW as well as the Seattle Parks Department sports 'Grand Slam' events for youth. My partner, Jason Breitling and I, have also been engaged with the UW Landscape Architecture program.

Every business faces challenges. Can you share insights into any challenges your business has overcome and the growth that resulted?
Recruiting skilled and hardworking labor has always been a challenge.  We promoted an employee referral bonus program that has been highly successful.  We also currently have on staff four sets of brothers, a father and his two sons, and a husband and wife. We like to think that says something pretty positive about the Cambium work environment.

What's your vision for the future of your business? Please share any upcoming projects, milestones, or events you're excited about.
Last year was our 25th anniversary! I hope to pass the torch when the time comes and see Cambium continue to be a creative, innovative industry leader.  We will grow the company, continuing to offer existing (and new!) employees a superior work environment, rewarding careers all the while providing more than fair compensation for dedication to excellent work.

Given your professional expertise and experiences, what advice do you have for our residents, if any?
When considering a new landscape, create a master plan from which to work. Consider your current goals as well as anticipated life changes (a dog, kids, longevity of stay in the residence). Budget is important. A beautiful plan that excites you is great as long as you can afford it and also want to commit the funds. A gorgeous, useful landscape is not an inexpensive endeavor. Plan well, execute wisely...and don't forget texture when choosing plants!

Do you have any client testimonials (from residents, if possible) you’d like to share?
We routinely receive notes or messages from clients thanking us and praising staff. Our reviews are five star. J. Lee says, "Cambium's design and project management is top notch. Tim and Janielle were both extremely responsive. They are well-versed and experts in their space. I was especially impressed with Cambium's lighting design. I didn't think being able to enjoy my outdoor space at night would ever be much of a thing. Love the tech options for the lighting and irrigation too!"

Is there anything else you'd like our readers to know about you?
I'm a proud Boomer and love working with the younger generations!
