Building Strong Foundations

Sheri Druckman, Regional Vice President of Legacy Partners

“Sharp, passionate, sincere, and thoughtful are just a few of the words I would use to describe Sheri. She genuinely cares about people as individuals and is highly knowledgeable and passionate about the multifamily industry. People are said to be the building blocks of a strong industry. Druckman is considered the mortar that holds the association bricks firmly together,” says the Washington Multi-Family Housing Association (WMFHA) when honoring Sheri as the recipient of the National Apartment Association (NAA) Outstanding Service to an Affiliate Excellence Award.

Sheri Druckman is Regional Vice President of Legacy Partners, a privately-owned real estate firm that acquires, develops, and manages multi-family communities. She is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Legacy’s property management operations in the Pacific Northwest, Colorado, and Wyoming, including multi-family, mixed-use, new developments, lease-ups, renovations, and client relations. She combines her commercial responsibilities with extensive volunteering, currently as the Chair of the NAA Affordable Housing Committee, Chair of the NAA Advocacy Subcommittee, Vice Chair of Partnership for Affordable Housing, and a Past President of WMFHA. Ms. Druckman is also a member of the NAA Legislative & Regulatory Committee and WMFHA Government Affairs Committee.

With a twin sister and an older brother, Sheri grew up in the small town of Indianola, Iowa. Both sets of grandparents were farmers, while her mother was an insurance agent and her father a UPS driver and later a Minister. Sheri’s parents instilled strong work ethics in their three children. As Sheri recalls, “We grew up detasseling corn and walking beans which is hard work!”  Equally, her parents introduced Sheri and her siblings to the value of volunteering with the concept of servant leadership. “We always understood the importance of giving back, of service, and of community giving. Every day in the summer we would deliver Meals on Wheels to older folks who couldn't get out of their homes,” she reminisces.

At the age of 15, Sheri began modeling and pursued a career in fashion after high school taking her to Miami, Chicago, Dallas, and Atlanta. In 1994, she flew to Seattle to visit her twin sister who was a neuroscience graduate student at the University of Washington. The trip was supposed to be a two-week visit but unexpectedly turned into a three-decade-long career in multifamily and commercial real estate. “I fell in love with the city, slept on my twin sister’s couch, and found a temp job managing apartments, retail, commercial, industrial, and moorage real estate,” she explains. “That was my first introduction to multifamily and commercial real estate.”

In 1996, Sheri met her husband Paul at a ski conditioning class. Paul was raised in Point Dume, a surfing community in Southern California and relocated to Chehalis, Washington at 14. He is self-employed, specializing in land acquisition and development of residential and multi-family properties. The couple has lived in Meydenbauer Bay since 2000. “We have been part of the remarkable growth and development of Bellevue,” Sheri continues, “supporting the merchants of Old Main Street and locally owned businesses.” Paul and Sheri were married in their front yard in 2002 and have raised their two boys here enjoying the parks, libraries, schools, and public spaces. Older son Maximilian attended Interlake High School in the Advanced IB Diploma Program and is now studying at the McCombs School of Business - University of Texas at Austin. Their younger son Benjamin is a 4.0 student-athlete and plays quarterback on his high school tackle football and Select 7v7 teams.

In their leisure time, the Druckman family loves to travel, enjoy the great outdoors, and cheer on sporting events. “Something that people might find surprising about me is that I am quite the fisherwoman!” Sheri quips. “Whether boating, fishing, skiing, playing tennis, hiking, or enjoying an incredible sunset, nature provides such a sense of joy, gratitude, and inner peace.”

Volunteering is a lifelong commitment for Sheri, including with the BSD and sports programs throughout the boy’s childhood. She has also volunteered and helped raise contributions for Hopelink, Childhaven, Treehouse, We Heart Seattle, Habitat for Humanity, and Rebuilding Together. Sheri advocates on The Hill for legislation that will improve housing affordability and communities across the State of Washington and nationally.

Describing her love for Meydenbauer Bay and West Bellevue, Sheri concludes, “I love the location, natural beauty, and the water. Bellevue literally means ‘beautiful view’. It is an oasis, and beyond how lush and green it is, I love the community, diversity, parks, schools, arts, and culture.”
