Breaking Records and Building Great Futures in Bellevue

The excitement was palpable at Boys & Girls Clubs of Bellevue’s Champions of Youth Gala & Auction, where nearly 500 community members gathered for an unforgettable evening in support of Bellevue’s youth.

Held at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue, the event shattered expectations raising a record-breaking $1,282,000 and counting, surpassing the initial goal of $1,000,000, to provide scholarships for local youth to attend their Clubs.
Guests stepped into the theme of Havana Nights from the moment they arrived. Photo ops with live parrots and a vintage blue Corvette set the scene for a night to remember. A fresh mojito bar and cigar station added authentic flair, while guests completed their look at the custom fedora bar, fully immersing themselves in the tropical celebration.
The energy carried from the reception to the program as Seattle Seahawks legend, Richard Sherman, launched footballs into the audience. One of those lucky catches was landed by none other than Cliff Avril, Sherman’s former Seahawks teammate, proving the Legion of Boom still knows how to bring the hype.
The Champion of Youth Award was proudly presented to the Kuula Family for their transformational giving, leadership on the Board of Directors, and dedication to our mission. Roger, Linda, BJ, and Liz Kuula, alongside the Bacon and so many other West Bellevue Families, filled multiple tables—bringing together generations of family, friends, and supporters in commitment to Club youth.
The live auction featured an exciting selection of exclusive experiences, luxury getaways, and unique items that kept the energy high and guests bidding generously throughout the evening.
“Every dollar raised helps ensure that cost is never a barrier for a child to access the lifechanging programs our Clubs provide,” shared Tim Motts, CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Bellevue. “This night was a celebration of that mission—and of a community that shows up to make it possible.”
Thanks to the generosity of event sponsors—a few of which include Bungie Foundation, Amazon, Nintendo, American Capital Group, Blue Fern Development, and Costco Wholesale—who covered the event’s overhead, the Champions of Youth Gala netted an incredible $1,000,000. That means every dollar raised goes directly toward scholarships for youth to attend one of the 18 Clubhouse locations across Bellevue—ensuring cost is never a barrier to lifechanging care.
The Gala wasn’t just a fundraiser, it was a vibrant reminder of the power of a community that shows up for its youth. Whether it was listening to live music, raising a mojito toast to the impact being made, or sharing stories of transformation, guests left inspired and energized.
If you missed it this year, don’t worry. Mark your calendar for next year’s Gala on May 30th, 2026. Champions of Youth Gala is more than a night out—it’s a night that changes lives.
