A Tradition That Delivers
Each winter a beautifully restored vintage firetruck rolls onto the St. Thomas School campus, marking the return of a favorite tradition: “Fill the Firetruck.” The annual food drive is made possible by STS grandparent Margie Danz and her family, who bring the truck each year as students help fill it with donations for Hopelink. This year, school families contributed 3,368 pounds of food and 691 pounds of essential supplies to help stock local food banks and support neighbors in need. Throughout the day, students take turns visiting the truck—ringing the bell, climbing into the driver’s seat, and delivering bagfuls of donations collected at home.
“Our students love this tradition,” said Amanda McDevitt, Director of Marketing and Communications at St. Thomas School. “We’re thankful to our families for their generosity and to the Danz family for bringing the firetruck back each year—it turns a simple act of giving into something memorable, while still making a real difference for Hopelink.”
