The announced retirement of the store’s president and fifth-generation jeweler, Steven Goldfarb, brings an end to an era of personalized service and fine jewelry craftsmanship in the region. As a final gesture of appreciation for its community, the store is currently holding a Retirement and Going Out of Business Sale for the public.

 

Founded in 1980 by Goldfarb’s father, Alvin, the store quickly became a cornerstone of the region’s fine jewelry industry. Known for its exquisite selection of designer and luxury brands, custom creations, and personal touch, Alvin Goldfarb Jeweler has played a treasured role in the lives of generations celebrating engagements, weddings, anniversaries, births, and countless other unforgettable occasions. Now, Goldfarb hopes to fulfill the store’s mission of commemorating life’s most significant moments with the gift and appreciation of fine jewelry and timepieces one last time as he bids farewell to a cherished career. 

 

“It has been the honor of a lifetime to share in the stories and joys of our valued clients and to work alongside our team of talented and dedicated jewelers,” said Goldfarb. “This community has become part of my extended family, and while the decision to retire and shutter the store wasn’t easy, it feels like the right time to turn the page and begin a new chapter.” 

 

Always very active in the community, Goldfarb’s distinguished itself with creative charity endeavors. Signature “Goldfarb Raffles” were fun and effective fundraising additions to many Seattle area charity events. Examples included patrons purchasing champagne glasses where one real diamond was the prize among flutes containing cubic zirconia. Several game show type competitions entertained guests at fundraising auctions. Alvin Goldfarb Jeweler supported over 50 charitable auctions and events each year. 

Unique in-store events were another special offering. Goldfarb Jeweler developed an annual “Try-On Party” where people were encouraged to come and enjoy an evening trying on gorgeous jewelry without the expectation of a purchase. The store was the location for many surprise engagements as well as “Sweet Sixteen” and “Sweet Sixty” birthday parties. 

  

Goldfarb’s eschewed the stuffy reputation often associated with jewelry stores. Known for its friendly familial feel, clients seeking simple repairs were treated the same as celebrities and sports stars. A sign welcoming “four footed friends” adorned the front door, as canine companions were always welcome with their humans. Steven and Fredda Goldfarb’s beloved Havanese pup was a constant presence welcoming customers, and was beloved to staff and clients alike.
