Mackenzie Brady - Director, Parks & Recreation
One of the things I appreciate most about Moraga is how much the community cares about its parks, trails, open spaces, and recreation programs. Over the past year, I’ve had the privilege of seeing that passion firsthand as residents have helped shape the Town’s Parks, Recreation, and Open Space (PROS) Master Plan.
This plan will serve as a roadmap for the future of Moraga’s parks and recreation system, helping guide priorities, investments, and opportunities for years to come. While Town staff and our consultant team have facilitated the process, it is truly the community that has shaped the vision.
I want to sincerely thank everyone who has participated along the way. Hundreds of residents have shared their thoughts through pop-up outreach events, surveys, focus groups, a workshop, public meetings, emails, conversations, and comments to the Parks & Recreation Commission and Town Council. Whether you attended an event, completed a survey, or sent an email with an idea, your input has made this plan stronger.
Now we’re entering one of the most exciting phases of the process.
On Wednesday, September 9, the Town Council and Parks & Recreation Commission will hold a joint public meeting to review the draft recommendations for the PROS Master Plan. This meeting is an opportunity to see how the community’s feedback has been incorporated and to continue shaping the final plan before it is adopted.
Community participation doesn’t end there. Additional opportunities to review and provide feedback will be available during the October 12 Parks & Recreation Commission meeting and the November 18 Town Council meeting, when the Council is anticipated to consider adoption of the final Master Plan.
Moraga’s parks belong to everyone, and the best plans are created when the community stays involved. Whether you’re passionate about trails, playgrounds, recreation programs, events, sports fields, open spaces, or preserving the unique character of Moraga’s parks, I encourage you to continue participating as we map the path forward.
